Taipei uses microblogs (微博) to attact self-guided Chinese (自由行陸客)

TAIPEI–The Taipei city government said yesterday the microblog it uses to publicize the latest travel information for individual Chinese tourists has drawn more than 30,000 online followers one week after its launch.

“Fun Taipei,” (趣台北) a website that allows users to exchange short messages on Taipei-related tourism information, has drawn tremendous feedback from Chinese netizens (網友), said project supervisor Ting Hao-yuen.

On June 7, the first day when the website was put online, the city government received more than 100 messages inquiring about travel in Taipei.

For instance, user Dorayaki asked, “I heard that people in Taipei like to use Easycard. How much does it cost?”

With statistics recording 94 percent of Chinese group tourists visiting Taipei during their travel in Taiwan, Ting said the city has been eyeing the benefits of Web-based tourism campaigns.

為迎接陸客自由行,北市觀傳局率先進駐大陸最紅的新浪微博網,開設「趣台北」微博,提供大陸民眾台北旅遊的全方面訊息,並透過線上與網友互動,行銷台北觀光資源。 台北市府觀光傳播局今天表示,繼「台北旅遊網」率各縣市政府之先,移機向對岸民眾提供台北觀光資訊服務後,昨日開設的「趣台北」微博(http://weibo.com/taipeitravelnet)發佈旅遊訊息4則,僅短短一日已吸引微博粉絲近5000人,網友評論熱絡,顯見大陸各地民眾對旅遊台北的渴望與熱情。 觀傳局表示,這項數據顯示要更快速推廣與整備台北市觀光資源,進而瞭解大陸民眾關注的旅遊議題與想獲知的資訊,吸引陸客踴躍來台北觀光,讓來過的陸客更能深刻的感受到「台北一遊未盡」。
